Support Education (SupEd PLC ) is a private company, working on introducing "Technology assisted Education System" in Ethiopia and other countries in Africa. Though we have long experience in reaching schools and universities with offline digital resource, called eGranary as a field associate of the WiderNet project based in UNC of USA since 2009, we established as a local company in 2016.
Our company support education is working toward being a "one stop education solution" in delivering the Digital educational resource and related technology, such as , tablet, school network installation and solar energy for all the system to be used in the schools and institutions irrespective of the precense of main grid. This makes our project to be used every where in the country.
University of Alabama and Support education entered into agreement with Ministry of Education, and ministry of health, in 2016 to develop a "Curriculum based offline digital library system" for General education and "Course based electronic library system" (CBELES) for Health colleges in the country. CEBELS is to be installed in 28 health colleges in the country. we have already installed in 13 colleges and the rest 15 will become the next beneficiaries from the project.
Curriculum based offline digital, grade specific tablet and school library system are piloted in two regions (Amahara , "chach General secondary and preparatory school", and Oromia , "Burayou General secondary and preparatory schools"). Following the onsite visit, survey made and the feedback from both sites, our system is in a position to be implemented in all schools in the country.
Our coverage is expanding to higher elementary schools and adult literacy Numeracy and lifelong learning, through collaborative work with international and local organizations.
Following the revised roadmap of the education system, we are also working on technology assisted educational lab, in collaboration with Instigate Design of Armenia.
Having organized by professionals from the field of ICT (Software and mobile application development, Computer Networking) Education and management. we are working on Offline digital library system based on the educational curriculum and non structured education. This development includes availing of educational resources for all school levels of students.
Digital Resources Platforms : - The offline digital resource loaaded on school server and individual tablets are used in :-
Network Solution: - we are also working on wired and wireless network installation to make the digital resource to be available for the users with their digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, Laptops and PC. For more ...
Solar power:- unless there is a solution for the problem of electric power, users can not have access to their digital resource. to solve this problem we identified a solar power source, for individual tablets, and schools . This will assist the delivery of the resource to all area, where there is no electrical grid, such as pastoral regions, rural areas ...etc.

Ministry of Education (MoE) and University of Alabama at Birmingham Sparkman Center For Global Health (UAB-SCGH) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) early in 2016 to develop a software and digitize the curriculum content of all MOE curriculum resources for Secondary and Preparatory Schools (Grades 9-12) including textbooks and recorded video lectures in a format allowing local delivery. UAB-SCGH together with local company, Support Education (SupEd) and a software company from Zambia have worked on the development since then.......
UNESCO’s motto is humanity and peace. In this case, we are always advocating for peaceful, inclusive and learning society. We found such technology, equalizer, to make between urban and rural, out of school children and formal school learners, and adults. We found this technology helpful to help the society to move together. The second point is, while technology helps to learn anywhere any time, we need parents to help their children, and children help their parents. As a UNESCO, as a point of cultural integration, we advocate for intergenerational learning. Families who are actively participating in their children learning, particularly in girl’s education and their children achievement, and also to have basic cultural, educational and economic points, we are looking for a technology that binds generations. Having this technology alone may not by itself bring sustainability. We have to have a consortium of activities practices.
As UNESCO, education have five elements. Context, content, materials, method, assessment and the resource person that moves everything in coherent. Human training in this case will come to a very important point with this technology." (
Mr. Samuel Asnake

The team visited the two pilot schools, Burayu and Chacha General Secondary and Preparatory Schools,
on 14th and 15th of November 2017, to get the actual overview of the pilot project. They have discussed with the school principals, teachers and students, after having visited activities performed with in the school compound.
"We have sent out technical team to visit the field, and the feedback proves its importance. We are convinced and agree in its implementation in the schools in the region. Supporting education through technology is one of the tools for the improvement of quality of education. I want to pass my appreciation to Support education, the local partner and UAB Sparkman center on delivering this project. " (Mr. Tefera Bayissa, Amhara Education Bureau, Deputy Head ) More..
this technology is an equalizer. It equalizes us with the student in developed country by reducing the digital gap through availing as many digital resources that we need for our education, which was not possible previously. Secondly, we come from faraway villages, we were to carry many books, but now I come with just a single tablet, with much more resources. I have all textbooks and video tutorials in this device and can access all grade 9 to 12 textbooks and video tutorials and other reference materials including simulations and educational apps, by connecting to the school server.
